This is an ungraded unit. Your results will be recorded as either AC – Achieved Competency or NC – Not Competent. AC is achieved by the submission of all events and items listed on this assessment schedule to a competent level.


This assessment can be based on your workplace or a simulated environment.


You are required to design TWO e-learning resources and to develop, trial and review at least ONE of those resources

Task 1: Design

Based on the outcomes of your Evaluation survey (Part 1) and your planned Strategy (Part 2), your task is to design and develop a learning and teaching resource utilising suitable technologies.

Identify a suitable e-resource via follow up discussions with your team and clients.

Learning design

Your design should be based on the nature of the learning required and take into account:
  • learner-centred activities and interaction
  • collaborative learning opportunities
  • authenticity in learning and assessment activities
  • the order and sequencing of information
  • opportunities for review of material and repetition
  • choice and variety of approaches and techniques
  • the 'chunking' or structure of information
  • a focus on realistic and relevant contexts
  • providing feedback to the learner
  • techniques to engage learners

Identify a suitable tool or platform taking into consideration availability, policy and technical requirements and limitations.


You might aim to develop:
  • a tutorial or how-to guide
  • a problem or scenario
  • an industry case study
  • a library of shared images
  • industry audio interviews
  • a structured series of discussion posts

Tools and technologies

might include:
  • video
  • audio
  • digital stories
  • discussion forums
  • interactive Moodle activities
  • wiki
  • blog posts
  • Voicethread
  • Polls or surveys

Identify people you will need to gain support from or to collaborate with on the development of the resource.

Task 2: Develop

Develop a plan or storyboard and obtain feedback – review your design against the brief, likely target audience and learning needs
Review and include improvements
Develop in collaboration with relevant others.
Focus on considerations such as copyright etc

Task 3: Trial and review

Trial your e-learning resource with potential users
Gather feedback
Make adjustments to finalise the e-learning resource

Reflect on the e-learning resource including:
  • relevancy
  • currency
  • bias
  • accessibility
  • technology compatibility
  • customisation potential
  • re-usability
  • storage and sharing options


TWO documented e-learning designs via short written report or blog post/s.
Your designs should include:
  • a summary of the resource to be developed
  • focus and identified need
  • sketches, drawings, flowcharts or storyboard
  • links to existing resources used as a model
  • technical requirements
  • ethical or legal considerations
  • key stakeholders
  • review plan

ONE completed e-learning resource (link or digital file) and a blog post covering details of the design and review process including:
  • resource summary
  • context, course and target group
  • ease of use of technology
  • issues identified
  • technical considerations
  • copyright considerations
  • storage and sharing tactics
  • how the resource could be customised or re-used
  • further improvements

Your blog post will be posted on the DFF blog and shared with other participants.
